Wool and cashmere sweaters for men: hoodies, half zips, crewnecks, polos and cardigans
Everything on this page is knitted in a blend of merino wool and cashmere. Most pieces are 90 % merino wool and 10 % cashmere: the wool cashmere hoodies, the half zips and the polo sweaters in a 12 gauge plain knit, and the chunky crewnecks in 7 gauge. A few have more cashmere, 70 % wool and 30 % cashmere, among them the zip cardigan and the vest on the polo sweaters and vests page. The merino gives the knit its strength and keeps the shape, the cashmere gives the softness you feel at the neck and wrists. Both yarns are two ply. The exact blend is listed on every product. Designed in Stockholm and sold in our store on Grev Turegatan.
Why a blend, and which piece for which day
A sweater in pure cashmere is the softest and warmest, and it wears fastest at the cuffs and elbows. A sweater in pure merino is the toughest and lightest. A blend sits between them: softer than merino, and it holds up to more wear and washing than cashmere. It is the sweater for the man who wants cashmere against the skin and plans to use it every week. The 90/10 knit is the everyday version. The Wool Cashmere Half Zip goes under a coat to the office and over a t-shirt at the weekend, and the Wool Cashmere Hoodie is the Sunday sweater that still looks like knitwear. The 70/30 pieces have three times the cashmere and are the softer and warmer ones, for the cold months and for evenings. Take the chunky 7 gauge crewneck for January and the 12 gauge pieces for the rest of the year.
Fit and care
Regular fit that sits close without being tight, so choose your usual size. Wash on a wool programme at 30 degrees or by hand, close the zip first, dry flat and store it folded. The tumble dryer is what shrinks and felts wool, so skip it. A little pilling in the first weeks where the cuffs rub is normal, and a wool comb removes it. After that the surface settles.
