Crewnecks

At Brown Avenue, we offer men’s crewneck sweaters crafted from carefully selected materials and premium qualities, developed with a focus on comfort and durability. Choose 100% merino wool for a lightweight, breathable, and temperature-regulating sweater suited for year-round wear. For added softness, our merino–cashmere blends combine structure with a smoother, more refined hand feel. For the most exclusive option, we offer Royal Cashmere — one of the world’s finest cashmere yarns, renowned for its exceptional softness, lightness, and superior quality. The result is a sweater that provides natural warmth and an outstanding feel against the skin. With a clean design and a considered fit, our crewnecks are timeless, versatile pieces designed to be worn and appreciated for years to come.

Frequently asked questions

Cashmere, merino or the chunky crewneck, which should I buy first?

The Cashfeel Merino Crewneck, if you want one sweater for most of the year. It is lighter than cashmere, breathes well, keeps its shape and goes under a blazer. Add the Royal Cashmere Crewneck for winter and dressed occasions, and the Wool Cashmere Chunky Crewneck when you want a thick sweater for the coldest weeks, worn over a t-shirt.

Does a merino crewneck shrink in the wash?

Not on a wool programme at 30 degrees or by hand, dried flat. Merino wool shrinks when it meets heat and agitation together, so the risk is a normal cotton programme at 40 degrees or the tumble dryer. Washed as a wool garment, the Cashfeel Merino Crewneck keeps its size wash after wash and rarely needs washing at all, airing is usually enough.

Does the Royal Cashmere Crewneck pill?

A little in the first weeks, then it stops. Pilling comes from short fibres working their way to the surface, and Royal Cashmere uses long fibres at 15.2 microns, which is why it pills less than ordinary cashmere. Remove any pills with a cashmere comb rather than pulling them off. Air the sweater between wears and wash it rarely.

Is the Wool Cashmere Chunky Crewneck too warm for indoors?

In a warm office, yes. It is a 7 gauge knit in 90 % merino wool and 10 % cashmere, thicker than our 12 gauge crewnecks, and made for cold days outdoors, with a coat on top or on its own on a crisp weekend. For the office, the Royal Cashmere Crewneck or the Cashfeel Merino Crewneck in 12 gauge is the better choice.

Which size should I choose in a crewneck?

Your usual size. All three crewnecks have a regular fit that sits close without being tight, with the shoulder seam on the shoulder and the hem at the belt. The model on the product pages is between 183 and 185 cm, around 76 to 79 kg, and wears a medium. Go one size up only if you want a deliberately relaxed look or plan to wear a thick shirt underneath.

Crewneck sweaters for men

The crewneck is the sweater you wear most, and we knit it in three materials. The Royal Cashmere Crewneck in 100 % Royal Cashmere, a 12 gauge plain knit, in silver grey, grey, taupe, brown, navy and black. The Cashfeel Merino Crewneck in 100 % extra fine merino wool, also 12 gauge, in brown, green, navy and taupe. And the Wool Cashmere Chunky Crewneck in 90 % merino wool and 10 % cashmere, a heavier 7 gauge knit, in greige and navy. All have a round neck, ribbed cuffs and a regular fit. Designed in Stockholm and sold in our store on Grev Turegatan.

Cashmere, merino or the chunky blend

The Royal Cashmere Crewneck is the softest and the warmest for its weight, the sweater for the office in winter and for dinners where you want to look dressed without a jacket. The Cashfeel Merino Crewneck is the one for every day: lighter, breathes well, keeps its shape through years of wear and goes under a blazer without bulk. The Wool Cashmere Chunky Crewneck is the thick one for the coldest months, worn over a t-shirt with a coat on top or on its own on a cold weekend. If you are buying your first, take the merino in navy. If you already own one, the cashmere in grey or taupe is the next.

Fit and care

All three have a regular fit that sits close without being tight, with the shoulder seam on the shoulder and the hem at the belt. Choose your usual size. The model on the product pages is between 183 and 185 cm and wears a medium. Air the sweater between wears, wash on a wool programme at 30 degrees or by hand, dry flat and fold it in the wardrobe. A wool comb takes care of any pilling, which is normal in the first weeks of a cashmere sweater and rare in merino.
