Frequently asked questions

Cotton cap or sport cap?

The cotton cap for everyday wear in town, the sport cap for activity and weather. The cotton cap has the embroidered logo and mesh panels at the back that keep it cool, and it looks right with a knitted polo. The sport cap in lightweight nylon weighs almost nothing, folds into a pocket and suits a run, a boat or a bike ride.

Does the cap fit a large or small head?

Yes, within reason. Both caps are one size with an adjustable strap at the back, so they fit most adult heads from small to large. If you usually find caps tight, the cotton cap with mesh panels has a little more give than a fully woven cap. Set the strap once so the cap sits level without pressing on the forehead.

Can I wash the cap in the machine?

No, wash it by hand. Cool water, a little mild soap, press the water out without wringing and let it dry on a bowl so the crown keeps its shape. A washing machine crushes the front and a tumble dryer shrinks the sweatband, on both the cotton cap and the sport cap. Between washes a damp cloth on the brim and the sweatband is usually enough.

Does a cap go with knitwear?

Yes, if the rest is plain. A cap in a single colour over a knitted polo and linen pants looks like one outfit, not sportswear, and in autumn the cotton cap sits well with a merino hoodie under a coat. Keep the colours close: a cap in the same tone as the sweater or the pants reads calmer than a contrasting one.

Caps

Caps for men

Two kinds of cap on this page. The cotton cap has our logo embroidered on the front and mesh panels at the back, so air moves through it on a warm day and it sits light on the head. The sport cap is made in a lightweight nylon that takes rain, sweat and a bag pocket without complaint, and weighs almost nothing. Both are adjustable at the back, so one size fits most heads, and both come in plain colours chosen to go with the knitwear we make. The caps are designed in Stockholm and sold in our store on Grev Turegatan, and the colours change with the season while the two shapes stay the same.

Cotton cap or sport cap

The cotton cap is the one for the city. It has the look of a classic cap, the embroidered logo is small and the mesh at the back keeps it cool at a lunch outside, on the golf course or on a walk in June. Worn with a knitted polo and linen pants it reads as part of the outfit rather than sportswear. The sport cap is the one for movement and weather. The nylon is light and breathes, it folds into a jacket pocket and it does not mind being worn on a run, on a boat or on a bike to work. If you only buy one cap, take the cotton cap for everyday wear in town and the sport cap if most of your time outdoors is active or by the water. Many of our customers own both and switch by season: cotton from May to September, nylon for autumn and spring when the weather turns.

Fit and care

Both caps have an adjustable strap at the back. Set it once so the cap sits level on the forehead without pressing, and it will keep that setting. Wash by hand in cool water with a little mild soap, press the water out without wringing, reshape the crown and let the cap dry on a bowl or a rolled towel. Skip the washing machine and the tumble dryer, which crush the front and shrink the sweatband. Between washes, a damp cloth on the brim is usually enough.
