Cashmere sweaters for men
A cashmere sweater is the softest, lightest and warmest sweater you can wear. Ours are knitted in 100 % Royal Cashmere, Grade A fibres at 15.2 microns from Inner Mongolia, finer than ordinary cashmere at 16 to 19 microns. That is why they feel smoother against the skin, weigh less and pill less. Every sweater is designed in Stockholm.
Crewneck or zip?
The Royal Cashmere Crewneck is the classic cashmere sweater: round neck, ribbed cuffs and a fit that sits close without being tight. Wear it over a shirt at the office or with a t-shirt at the weekend. The Royal Cashmere Zip Hoodie is the cashmere sweater with zip, easy to open and close as the day changes. What makes Royal Cashmere different
Cashmere quality is decided by fibre fineness and length. Finer fibres make a softer, lighter knit. Longer fibres hold together better, so the sweater pills less and keeps its shape for years. Royal Cashmere is both finer and longer than standard cashmere, which is the difference you feel the first time you put it on and still notice after five winters.
Does cashmere itch?
No. Cashmere fibres are far finer than ordinary wool, and Royal Cashmere is finer still. The fibres bend against the skin instead of poking it, which is why a cashmere sweater is comfortable without a shirt underneath, even for people who find wool itchy.
Pure cashmere or a blend?
Pure cashmere is the warmest and softest. If you want a sweater that takes more wear, our wool and cashmere sweaters keep most of the softness at a lower price. For the lightest everyday option, see merino sweaters. Many of our customers own a cashmere sweater for the cold months and a merino sweater for the rest of the year.
How a cashmere sweater should fit
Close to the body with the shoulder seam on the shoulder and the hem at the belt. Choose your usual size. Cashmere relaxes slightly with wear, so resist the urge to size up unless you want a deliberately loose look.
How to care for a cashmere sweater
Air it between wears. Wash on a wool programme at 30 degrees or by hand, dry flat and fold it rather than hang it. Remove pilling with a cashmere comb, a little pilling in the first weeks is normal and stops once the short fibres are gone. Store it folded with a cedar block over summer. A Royal Cashmere sweater looked after this way lasts for many years. All sweaters and everything in cashmere.
